Vila das Rainhas (since the 13th century): In 1282, D. Dinis offered Óbidos as a wedding gift to his wife, Queen Santa Isabel. This gesture began a tradition in which the town was often donated to Portuguese queens, becoming known as the "Vila das Rainhas" It has become an important tourist destination, known for the International Chocolate Festival, the Medieval Fair and ginjinha (cherry liqueur). Aveiro, known as the "Venice of Portugal", is a city in central Portugal, famous for its canals, moliceiros (traditional boats), salt flats and architecture. Its history is marked by its connection to the sea and the estuary, which shaped the local economy and culture. Color origin: Originally, these houses were used as fishing warehouses and painted in a practical way, often with leftover paint used on boats. The stripes were adopted as a decorative element, but it is believed that they also helped fishermen identify their homes from a distance.
